Demands for greater internationalization at vocational education and training (VET)
The Law about Vocational Education and Training states that a vocational education has to
"Supply knowledge to the students about international relations and about working and training abroad"
"Supply skills to the students aiming at innovation, entrepreneurship, foreign languages and cultural understanding"
There are no clauses in this law spelling out how to carry this out. It is up to the individual programs in the departments to ensure that requirements are met with.

To what extent should internationalization be placed at the individual departments of AARHUS TECH?
Focus on internationalization depends on:
... How it responds to customers' demands
... How it makes AARHUS TECH more attractive to industry.
Therefore AARHUS TECH has decided that there will be a differentiation in the focus of internationalization among the departments, either minimum requirements or more than minimum requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • The teachers have to be able to provide international examples in teaching.
  • The teachers have to be able to teach a multicultural student group and have to be multicultural problem solvers.
  • The guidance counselors and the teachers in collaboration with the international coordinators of the college have to be able to inform students about international activities within their departments.
  • The guidance counselors have to be able to master relevant terminology about Danish education in English.

More than minimum requirements

  • The department will arrange practical placements abroad for students (PIU)
  • The teachers will take part in study tours
  • The department will use foreign guest teachers
  • Students and teachers will use virtual exchange, like www.etwinning.net
  • The department will provide a key group of teachers and counselors, who are involved actively in international projects in cooperation with the international coordinator of the college.
  • The department will provide a key group of teachers who have to be able to present themselves and their subjects and to teach in foreign languages.
  • The department will be involved in at least one international project (e g. Leonardo).
